    Where is 'BUM'

Whilst in an internet cafe last night I found a topic somewhere on the Ubuntu about BUM and how you can turn off unwanted services on boot.

I came home and for the life of me cannot find it!

Does anyone know where it is or where I can find details elsewhere?

Also I see that Kubuntu has Adept which when I search for BUM I get nothing. The guide I read mention synaptic or something. Is that the Ubuntu version of Adept?

    Thnx

    Re: Where is 'BUM'

Hi, elpuerco, welcome to the Kubuntu forums

Synaptic is the Gnome equivalent to Adept, and IMHO seems to work much nicer. Easy to install, too, and works just as well in Kubuntu.

To find BUM, you must first enable your Universe (and while you're at it, may as well get the Multiverse) repositories. Follow the instructions at this site:-

    http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/sources

After that, you can use Adept to install Synaptic (and BUM if you want) and decide for yourself whether to use Adept or Synaptic.

Hope this is helpful to you

    Cheers
