    I looked at /usr/bin/dpkg and it was computer language. I am at a loss to understand how to fix this problem. If there are missing dependencies, how do I locate and install them? Thanks!

    That's the error message, there seems to be a syntax error in /etc/default/grub.
    Post the contents of /etc/default/grub and we'll have a look.

        1. Open the file with "kdesudo kate /etc/default/grub"
        2. Remove the quote in the middle:
        GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash radeon.dpm=1"
        3. Save
        4. Run "sudo dpkg --configure -a"
