Does the command sudo apt-get upgrade upgrade K-14.04 to K-14.10?

I recently went from Kubuntu 14.10 to Kubuntu 14.04.

Among 5 of the things I do after installing a new version of Kubuntu are: sudo apt-get update, sudo apt-get upgrade, sudo apt-get install kubuntu-restricted-extras, and sudo dpkg --configure -a. I have not entered the command 'sudo apt-get upgrade, because I do not want to upgrade to Kubuntu 14.10. I want to retain the LTS in my laptop.

I have done these commands out of discipline rather than understanding, so previously I did not worry about what would happen. What kind of upgrade is included in a 'sudo apt-get upgrade, if it does not upgrade the distribution? Apparently I am unable to word the search request in google search to get my answer. Thanks!

It just upgrades your existing version of Kubuntu. It does not do a Version Upgrade. For that, if you wanted to, you would use the do-release-upgrade command. See https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/servergu...upgrading.html
