Teunis thanks for the Master PDF tip! I didn't know about that program. Okular if fine for everyday usage, but I have to assemble and disassemble PDFs often in my work so I always end up on my company laptop for the more complex tasks. Hopefully, Master PDF will eliminate that step.

"man firejail" suggests --bind or perhaps using namespace and --join.

I am OK with the way things are, just wanted to confirm that the mime type application set in file associations is 'honored' when running Opera and Chrome without firejail, but not when running them firejailed. The join command will open the application firejailed provided it is whitelisted.
