I do a lot of transcoding of video from my Android phone and my GoPro Black because of the multitudinous devices used by my students.
For whatever reasons, the transcoders PREVIOUSLY sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, I assume that it is a developer thing.
However, what works NOW is:
Use Handbrake to transcode to a format known as:
THEN use Transmageddon to transcode to:
This really does the transcode very nicely, preserves format, frames, etc.
Transmageddon produces other formats also, but since I don't use them I have not tested them, if anyone has so done, please post for the use of others.
MKV also known as Matroska
