Currently am using 64 bit Sketchup
One thing that may be a factor - re Sketchup was unable to initalize OpenGL - Kinfocenter won't display Graphical Information - OpenGL-it displays everything else. On clicking this item, it fails to open (circular spinning icon won't stop).

Hope you can shed more light on how to fix my system.

The "SketchUp Make 2015-64-bit (English) Setup" error window you posted has a 'telling' message: Prerequisite check for system component Microsoft Windows failed with the following error message: "Installation of SketchUp requires Windows 7 or later."

It seams to me, you downloaded the compilation package for Windows, not for Linux.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Paul, there isn't a Linux version. He needs to select Windows 7 in wine as is says in the link I provided...

You probably need to run winecfg, the wine config program, and set the Windows version to Win 7. I think I linked to some relevant info in another thread on this.

I already had set Windows 7 in wine.
I still think the following error is part of the problem.

OK Bumpalot ,,,,,,,,,GL is graphics card stuff .

                what do you have ?

easy way to show us is to install "inxi" ,,,,,,,
                Code:
                sudo apt-get install inxi
                then run
                Code:
                inxi -G
it will show something like this
                vinny@debian:~$ inxi -G
Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GK104M [GeForce GTX 860M]
Display Server: X.Org 1.16.4 driver: nvidia
                Resolution: 1920x1080@60.01hz
                GLX Renderer: GeForce GTX 860M/PCIe/SSE2
                GLX Version: 4.4.0 NVIDIA 340.93

the GLX is what we are looking for ,,,,,,,I think

+ in the link that @oshunluvr posted do the second fix ,,,,at the very bottom of the post

GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 10.5.9 Where do I insert these?

                      AND 2ND FIX:

                      1. Run below command to bring up Registry Editor:
                      wine regedit
                      2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Google -> SketchUp version -> GLConfig -> Display
                      3. Change the value of HW_OK to 1 (so that it shows up as 0×00000001 (1) << I already did this!

It's obvious by the fact that I have not received any more help since I posted more Wine problems here (have deleted them after waiting several days without any response), this post is now being ignored. Am going to get help elsewhere.
