    NAS mount problem [Kubuntu 15.04

    Hello all,

I`m a first time user, so please have patience with me.
Before i came to Kubuntu i used window$ 7, and now with 8,8.1 and 10, it`s time to go.
I`ve got an Asustor 304 NAS with lots of music on it, but i can`t play it at all, because of mounting problems.
I have tried it with NAUTILUS, but that was no go, so can anybody tell me what i must do in dolphin.

(I try to write it in good english, as good as possible)

I assume the NAS has a network address and is not connected by USB. If so do you see the NAS when you click "Network" in Dolphin?

Do you know what kind of file system your NAS uses? NFS? Maybe you are missing the required dependencies to view that particular file system. Does anybody know if you have to install anything extra to view NFS?

My NAS can play with many file systems such as webDAV>NFS>SSH...
I will give you a link to the manual of my nas, if it is not permit, i`m sorry.

If you can see the NAS under Samba in Dolphin, the NAS is for sure using Windows file sharing (SAMBA aka CIFS). It may also use or have the ability to use NFS. NFS is better for Linux (faster, better streaming, more stable, etc.) but SAMBA is required for windows users.

The best solution really depends on how you plan on accessing it on a regular basis and the capabilities of the NAS itself. Assuming the NAS is fixed (not moving locations), I would mount it using /etc/fstab. If your client (the computer you access it from) is a laptop, then don't mount it automatically (there's ways to check for it before mounting - a much longer post).

If the NAS has NFS and can use both NFS and SAMBA simultaneously, then enable NFS and use that for Linux and SAMBA for Windows. If it can only do one or the other and you need Windows access, use SAMBA for both Linux and Windows.

For example, mounting via fstab, not automatically, with user access rights for everyone on your network (just like was suggested in the Ubuntu Dutch forum )- the fstab entry using SAMBA might look like:
                  //<NAS IP ADDRESS>/<SHARE NAME>/ /<MOUNT POINT>/ cifs user=<SAMBA USERNAME>,password=<SAMBA PASSWORD>,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,uid=1000,gi d=1000,x-systemd.automount 0 0

There's tons of other option so do some searching.

For the benefit of others on Kubuntuforums, would you either, specify the solution that you obtained, or post a link to where the solution may be viewed?
Windows no longer obstructs my view.

But i most warn everyone, it`s only in DUTCH.
So you must translate it yourself (or dutch is your second language)
