    Then test it:

    Open Dolphin.
    Click the red Root on the left.
    Navigate to /etc/default/grub.
    Right-click on that grub file.
    See the option: Root Actions ... Open as text ... ?
    That's it, that's how it works (of course, you have to supply your PW) ... you can then edit that file (as root), save or exit without saving, and so on. Just close it (exit) for now -- that poor file has already been edited enough for now.

      First test your Root Action capability (see my post above for that).

      Then read Post #414 on getting and using the Muon Package Manager.

      I'm gonna do some things around here ..... but will check in.

              It worked but I have an unrelated, but grub related question.

              I open Dolphin
              Root and others are on the left
              Large window in middle with blue folders like Documents, Downloads, etc.
              There are also 2 grub txt files;
              grub
              grub.save

                  I'm pretty sure these two files were created by you (not WE) last night, trying to make/edit a suitable grub file to use as /etc/default/grub. You can delete them:
                  If you are certain, with the mouse pointer over the file, right-click Delete;
                  If you'd rather put them in the Trash bin where you can later restore them, right-click, Move to Trash.

                  In this case, I'm pretty certain you can just Delete them. Besides, I can always send you another copy of that grub file .... oh no!

                      I've been using Linux since 2002. Now I'm not saying that in a "bow down before the magnificence of length, breadth and depth of my knowledge"1 kind of way, rather as a prelude to mentioning that in my time I have used many distros and desktops. In all that time, I have been a lucky old bugger and seem to have avoided most of the problems that strike other users, maybe because I cut my teeth back in the 80s on a VIC20 and went pro on IBM System/38 machines. I would rank myself intermediate at best!

                      Each desktop or window manager has it's own way of doing things, sometimes that way differs between even minor versions of desktops. I'm also a relative newcomer to KDE since KDE3 anyway and as logan01 is using 14.04 and I'm 15.04 with back ports for all I know, there could be a few confusing differences in the versions. The terminal way remains constant across them all; which is what I meant by the terminal is simple. I'll happily admit that it can look very intimidating to a beginner though. Of course it could old habits dying hard or something about old dogs

                      As for helping, I'm happy where and when I can, it's the least I can do for all the hard work that goes in to my computing platform.

                      1 Well, if you insist.
                      If you're sitting wondering,
                      Which Batman is the best,
                      There's only one true answer my friend,
                      It's Adam Bloody West!

                        You're so smart.. Back now and might to go again later if they find needed seals and the sort. Anyhow, thanks for everything and now I shall pursue "...Next is Muon ... #414 ...". Well, in a little bit, but I will if I can do it. Someday I might have the time to learn a little so that I can make an educated attempt to follow ya'lls instructions.Your patience is wonderful.

                          I can't find this in dolphin: K > Applications > System > xxxx

                          Is it in Dolphin Add-On Installer where I got the other "root" thing from?

                          Nope, not in installer.

                            The "K" is the K on your Kubuntu Desktop screen, lower left, what Windows would call a start button. Then you'll see Applications pop up along a horizontal bar. Then System will be in the vertical list (above Applications) ...

                                I'm in Muon Package Manager now. There like 1.600+ installed, over 70,000 available with 1 upgradeable. I went to hoping to use the toolbar to see if I could move it to favorites. Don't see that function. I'll go back to your instructions. Oh, you were talking of yet other stuff. Am I current on things to do or ....?
