Help Me Enjoy [Install] Kubuntu Please

using firmware boot menu?

using rEFInd? (it will work!)

using Boot Repair?

I think dd is Linux only, not sure (I use it a lot). See post above about rEFInd -- must be a way to do this in Windows. As I said, I don't even look at Windows anymore except to maintain the wife's 8.1.

BUT I did this in Kubuntu using k3b burning tool.
Windows surely has a disk-burning tool.
(Nero works, but I don't know if it is still used in Windows 10, or if it's free.)

Ok, I'll see what the deal is on copying the rEFInd thing. There was no untu nothing to boot in bios boot options or otherwise.

yeah, just this:
refind-cd-0.8.7.iso
The CD-R image.
Burned to a CD using k3b or whatever disk-burning tool you know about or can find (I think you only have a Windows OS to boot into).

downloaded the flash drive version of rEFInd and extracted. It's folder contains files to include a disc image file named refind-flashdrive-0.9.0

Do I need some special tool to copy it to my flash drive instead of using the copy/paste function? The other files are all text files.

I have no CDs. I do have flash drives.

copy/paste will not work to make that a bootable medium
(in Linux, we use dd to do this; google to see if there is a dd for Windows; I think I've heard of such, not sure)

I found iso to usb software. If I try to use it, am I only going to grab the disc image file named refind-flashdrive-0.9.0?

I think so, mine is
refind-flashdrive-0.9.0.img
and claims to be raw disk image.
I think that's the file Rod Smith says can be bunred (copied) using dd. I haven't tried any of this, only the old-fashioned CD. iso to usb ... how would that help? is the .img file and iso?

it's a .img file. nothing saying iso.

ISO images are another type of optical disc image files, which commonly use the .iso file extension, but sometimes use the .img file extension as well.
