Hey logan01, good to have you here. Hang out with us. Keep this thread open in case something along its lines pops up, or you can start a new one, NBD (as long as we hit your 40 :-) ) Later, my friend.

Now that's funny. I believe, with the connections I have, I can get you a free copy of Windows and I'll install it for you.
The curse of Death!? Like I said, I have that 8.1 on her laptop, and we'll take the free upgrade to 10 soon ... I really dislike booting into Windows, but she feels OK there, using email, Skype, photos, and such (but she really likes using Kubuntu best). I don't mind keeping up with Windows (on HER machine, of course), good to know it, keeps the brain working to learn new stuff.

I praise 10. That's what finally drove me here. Of course Had I known how sweet this is, I would have "crossed over" long ago. Gotta make up for lost time.

10 seems to get good tech reviews. Privacy issues are another matter (and privacy settings can mostly be controlled by the user). 10 seems to be the best of 8.1 and 7 -- or, at least fixes the complaints against 8.1. All I care about is the Control Panel and Settings -- just enough to maintain and check the system now and then.

I used XP until 2006, switched to Kubuntu, tried several other Linux OSs, always kept Kubuntu as my "main" OS, and it is my only OS now (though I keep other Linux OSs installed--Mint and Debian--just to conduct the booting experiments I run).

I really like 7 and xp. Don't like 8/8.1. 10 is ok but they have major, major issues with the new browser Edge. Edge has good potential but lacks common sense features and messes up frequently. Always hated Explorer. Netscape was my favorite. System-wise, I am absent of knowledge to judge. But I love this old unix-style stuff. Been almost 30 years since my unix days (as a mere usr).

I really liked Netscape, too. Many of here remember it and cite it occasionally.

Seriously, though: do feel free to start other threads, tbh some many not want to follow this many pages to find out what is going on or updated or for new problems/questions.

WE were hoping no one would notice, especially you mods. I'm covering for logan01, he's new here, seems to like the number 40, I'm innocent and just going along with it ...

Well, 40 is a perfectly inferior number.

I'm not sure I do. Is 40 in what base? Not binary 'cause of the 4. Base 10? I'm not tellin' my favorite number, that's for sure after seeing what you've done with the 40 case.

You've got to be kidding me! Can't you "compress" page 40 so that page 41 posts are on page 40, close thread and provide password to those who have been active in this thread, let us continue as needed, kind of blogesque, where the pages never increase in number? You are admin, you are juan.
