How do I install flashplayer from above?

    #2
Where did you get the image from? What directory is this? Can't you just install from the repos using Muon package manager or from the terminal?

Why are you trying to install it manually instead of via apt?

      $ apt install adobe-flashplayer

I think that's the package name.

The folder contents below is created on unpacking the tar.gz file.
        Contents of the Readme file:
        Installation instructions
        -------------------------
        Installing using the plugin tar.gz:
o Unpack the plugin tar.gz and copy the files to the appropriate location.
o Save the plugin tar.gz locally and note the location the file was saved to.
o Launch terminal and change directories to the location the file was saved to.
o Unpack the tar.gz file. Once unpacked you will see the following:
        + libflashplayer.so
        + /usr
o Identify the location of the browser plugins directory, based on your Linux distribution and Firefox version 9. Note: I am using kubuntu 14.10
o Copy libflashplayer.so to the appropriate browser plugins directory. At the prompt type:
        + cp libflashlayer.so <BrowserPluginsLocation>
o Copy the Flash Player Local Settings configurations files to the /usr directory. At the prompt type:
        + sudo cp -r usr/* /usr
I am unsure where to locate my "appropriate browser plugins directory"

Just install package flashplugin-installer from package manager.

          Or from Konsole:
          Code:
          sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

Open a terminal and run sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer and it will do everything for you.

            Beaten to it!

Note that 14.10 reached end of life: http://fridge.ubuntu.com/2015/07/03/...-july-23-2015/

Install 14.04 if you want stable system and long term support.

I remember doing something like this in Slackware when I updated Firefox. You don't have to do this with Kubuntu. Is there a reason you are using Kubuntu 14.10?

I like Kubuntu & used it since the 12,04 version.
Am waiting for the next level to get more mature!
Tried sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer - Apparently I already have the latest version.
My problem is, how do I get it activated?

If you use firefox, go to menu>addons and under plugins tab set flash to "always activate".
