Application that installs "access to root in dolphin menu"

I recall an application but not the name, of a tool to add special stuff to my Kubuntu 14.10 OS. I particularly want to add the feature that allows me to access Dolphin Root capability. As I recall, it was included in one of the panel menu selections.

As I recall, there were other special features installable in my Kubuntu OS in that program. Is it included in Muon, and what is it's name? Thanks!

    Open Dolphin.
    Settings.
    Configure Dolphin.
    Services.
You'll see Root Actions listed, or ...
    Click Download new services,
and look for kubicle's root actions program.

I think this is right, it is what I did for 14.04, but I recall reading here that it may be different for 15.04 ... ?

I may have made a mistake, but when I restarted and opened in Dolphin, I couldn't find "Root Actions" in the Menu. I then opened the "Services" folder and there were many Root Actions items checked. I unchecked all but "Root Actions: Open File Manager Here", but when I closed and opened Dolphin looking for that option in the menu, I could not find it. I feel very stupid, will you help me a little more? Thanks!

Shab, you'll just have to play with those settings, that's all I know. The key is to install kubicle's Root Actions package (as described in my post above) -- and for that, I do see it in my 14.04, and I assume it works in 15.04, but someone with 15.04 should chime in here -- or search the forums, as this was a topic not too long ago. If I have time, I'll try a search, like
        site:kubuntuforums.net root actions menu
        site:kubuntuforums.net root Dolhpin actions menu
        etc.

That says basically what I've said. Make sure you get kubicle's root actions package, not the simple root actions.

re check every thing you unchecked,,,,,,,,,you do not find it in the "menu" ,,,,it adds the root actions in the context menu (right click on a file )

On 15.04. I haven't tried kubicle yet but I did try "Simple Root Action". When I rebooted, it rebooted to black screen with the pointer. Oops.

I noticed, but have never tried, the Simple Root Action package. I don't know anything about this, except that kubicle's program, for me, "just works."

Are you on 15.04? I notice there have been a few issues with booting to black screen with pointer and I believe there were some related issues about change file permissions or running Dolphin as root.

I was able to fix it by removing some entries in .cache (I couldn't get to Konsole so I booted to usb).

Would like to try kubicle, but I was wondering if anybody else using 15.04 has loaded?
New to Kubuntu. Love 15.04 Thanks

Sorry, I'm on 14.04. No problems here!
Dolphin, as root, I usually just use
                      kdesudo dolphin

it,(Kubicles root actions service menu) works in 15.04 ,,,,yes
and is the first "Dolphin" service menu that I add after an install .

and it can be found in Dolphin>settings>configure dolphin>services>Download new services

Installed Kubicles Root Action. Installed easily and even added the path. Now I see the Root Actions menu. But 'Open as text' and 'Open with Kate' get me only as far as the password window. Once I enter the password nothing happens. So I said oh well, I'll just continue to use kdesudo dolphin. But now when I try to open Kate that way it errors out with 'KDEInit could not launch /usr/bin/kate' . If I instead run 'kdesudo dbus-launch dolphin' kate works.

Unless you can suggest a fix, I guess I'll just create a launcher for the dbus option or I can just kdesudo kate /etc/... Thanks....And by the way, I was so used to using Nautilus in past iterations, I accidently typed 'kdesudo nautilus' and Kate works. I guess another option.

Hi. The menu should work on 15.04. The first thing to try if you have problems is make sure you have the latest version (2.8.6) installed (if you install the menu from dolphin, it seems to...at least sometimes...download an older version. I'd suggest:
                            1. manually download the latest tar package (http://kde-look.org/content/download...1&tan=75231542)
                            2. extract
                            3. copy the ./Root_Actions_2.8.6/rootactions-servicemenu.pl over the /usr/bin/rootactions-servicemenu.pl (or /usr/local/bin, depending on where you installed the script in your $PATH)
                            4. report back if that doesn't work (or if you have any questions)

Using dbus-launch is not ideal as it starts a new dbus-daemon every time it's run (so you can end up with a lot of them), IIRC, 15.04 has a new enough dbus so you can use "kdesudo dbus-run-session dolphin" instead (which has the advantage that the daemon exits when you're done)
