please help

I'm new to linux and i really like this os but i dislike the fact that i can not get java to install at all will some one please tell me ho to install java. I have read all of the stuff i can read and have none it but it will not work.

Can you explain a bit what you've already tried and what errors you get (if any)?

Basically, there are two steps:

1. Make sure you have extra repositories enabled:
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/sources

2. Install Java with this command:

sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude install sun-java5-bin
