Hi all, first post in the forums. I'll list the details of what I'm running and then discuss the problems. I'm NOT dual booting, OSX has gone.
Kubuntu Specs:
Release - 15.04
KDE Version - 4.14.6
Grub - 2.02~beta2-22ubuntu1
Macbook Pro Specs:
Macbook Pro (2,1 model) 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo.
2Gb Ram
ATI Radeon X1600 with 256Mb GDDR3 SDRAM
32 Bit EFI
Problem #1 - Boot Time
It takes 1 min 40 secs from pressing power until the desktop appears. I get that it's running on very old hardware but it does seem to hang for some time on the initial grey screen that used to appear just before the apple icon when it was running OSX. I can live with this problem but it'd be nice to reduce the boot time if possible.
Problem #2 - Laptop shuts down if I run Software Update
Basically the above, if I manually try and run software update (not via terminal) it scans for a few seconds and then simply shuts the laptop off without warning. The automatic checking and installing of updates hasn't yet resulted in a shutdown though.
Problem #3 - Losing Wifi after laptop has been in Sleep mode
If I close the lid and send the computer to sleep, upon opening again I lose internet access via wifi, no networks are listed to join and I have to restart.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
