    x86 or 64bit

i'm currently running mandriva 10.2 on a (really) old comp. building a new one fairly soon and want to try kubuntu as a friend at work strongly recommended it. the processor i've purchased is the intel d 840, 64 bit dual core. in the download section the 64bit download says amd in parentheses which leads me to believe that it wouldn't work with the intel chip, however there is no 64 bit version for the x86 architecture. am i stuck using the regular 32 bit 386 or is the 64 bit not amd exclusive?

    thanks in advance

never mind, didn't notice the explanation under the heading said the 64 bit is good for em64t chips as well.

yes, EM64T does work on 64bit Kubuntu. Reading instructions are your friend
