Cannot delete icons i pulled on the desktop

I experimented with short cuts to programs on the default desktop and pulled 3 icons on the desktop.

When trying to delete the icons I get the error message:

Icon 1: The file or folder /home/rost/Desktop/applications:⁄⁄internet⁄ does not exist.

Icon 2: The file or folder /home/rost/Desktop/applications:⁄⁄settingsmenu⁄.desktop does not exist.

Icon 3:The file or folder /home/rost/Desktop/applications:⁄⁄settingsmenu⁄.desktop does not exist.

How can I delete these icons?

what version of kubuntu are you on ?

when you right click the desktop and then "desktop settings" what is listed under "layout"?

K now to be clear ,,,,,did you drag and drop from the kmenu ? and if so when you dropped it what option did you chose "copy hear,link hear or folder

be exact as I am repeating your steps to see how to delete it.

in the screenshot ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the top left is a drag and drop from the kickoff menu and chose "link hear" on the drop ,,,,,delete by ctrl+clickit to select it then shift+delete

the blue ball top rite is a kickoff>applications>rite click the "Internet" and add to desktop ,,,,,pointing at it will have a pop out with an x on it and can be removed with that (widgets must be unlocked)

the "folder view" bottom,,,,,was drag and drop from the kickoff>applications and choosing "folder" on dropping ,,,,,and is removed the same as above

Thanks a lot for your help. Problem is solved.

I did not remember anymore if I COPIED or LINKED. As there was no pop-up with a X I used the ctrl+click and shift+delete. It worked! Desktop is clean again.
