My reply did not appear, so here it is again.

I renamed the file by adding old to the name, but it is not the file that plays when my Login Screen appears. I restarted my computer after renaming the desktop-login file desktop-loginold.ogg, and it still played the Bongo sounds as it did before.

I renamed usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/dialog-question.ogg to .....dialog-questionold.ogg and restarted. When the login screen appeared, the bongo sounds were gone.

I apologize if I offend anyone, but I just installed Kubuntu 14.10 on my laptop. It was the most amazing installation I have ever experienced. Those who are perfecting the Operating System have done such a stellar job on this version of Kubuntu that it deserves applause and adulation. It solved all the problems I have been working on for months to fix, just by installing the OS. A couple of problems still exist, but I probably will find that my hardware is not up to the task to solve them. In any event, thanks to all who have been helping me lately. I hope I did not offend any of you by taking this course of action.
