OK, This is what I got:
Code:apt-get install -f kubuntu-desktop Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done kubuntu-desktop is already the newest version. The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: libblas3 libgfortran3 liblapack3 libmikmod3 libportmidi0 libsdl-image1.2 libsdl-mixer1.2 libsdl-ttf2.0-0 libsdl1.2debian libsmpeg0 python-configobj python-numpy python-pygame tk-tile Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 28 not upgraded.
Maybe what I should try is to reinstall all the headers that autoremove removed that one time. However, if you looked them over and there's nothing that would have affected the sound, I'm not sure what else to do besides reinstalling the OS again.

I think what I'll do is reinstall what was removed by AutoRemove and see if that makes any difference. In the meantime, if you can think of anything else that might work, I'm open to suggestions. I'll post the results when I'm done.

Reinstalling the AutoRemove stuff didn't help.
Hey, I was digging through the log and noticed that I did an update before I noticed that the sound was gone:
