Insalled Kubuntu 14.01 a few days ago. All was working fine until I installed the new 5.2 plasma interface. My 2 printers were operating fine this morning, but after the 5.2 install, neither is detected. In fact there is no "printers" icon on the Systems Settings page. Printers are HP Officejet 8500pro (hplip is installed) and Brother HL-2280DW. The HP is plugged in with a usb cable and the Brother is network. I can't think of any reason a new plasma desktop would prevent printers from being detected, and I have no idea how to proceed, except to go back to OpenSuse.

I'll bet that there may not be a printer module for Plasma 5's System Settings yet, and checking my utopic/Plasma5 system, this seem to be the case. The system settings module is still there, just not visible within plasma5's system settings. Your printers are still there. Have you tried printing? I just printed a document this morning just fine.
You can open the module manually by running
