    Hi there Snowhog,

Yes, just changed to my local server and tried installing Kubuntu-desktop but Synaptic will not move unless those dependencies/broken packages are fixed.

On a side note , download speed has increased.

          Yes, gpgv is installed :

          Code:
          reel@BM2LTSR66RBin:/media/hd/home/reel$ sudo apt install gpgv
          [sudo] password for reel:
          Reading package lists... Done
          Building dependency tree
          Reading state information... Done
gpgv is already the newest version.

Seems that gpgv is already installed and the latest version.

Tried the sudo apt-get update and the same gpg errors.
IF gpgv is installed but apt reports it can't be executed, indicates a deeper problem with your system.

Thanks Snowhog, just read that and i have tried all three and same dependancy errors.

This is looking gloomy for BM2LTS . At the moment i`m using Gnome ( compiz ) which is the nearest i can get to a kde desktop.

I miss the clipboard and the whole ease of use of kde.

Placed some icons along the top and bottom taskbars but now want to get rid of some - how is this done ?

                I miss kde , damn.....

Thanks for all this help though , still can`t mount those drives on boot up but at least have the commands for manual mounting by Oshunluvr .

Found , maybe the dependancy error :

                  Code:
Dependancy is not satisfiable: python3-software-properties (=0.92.36)
                  Do i install this with a simple `sudo apt-get install python3-software-properties`.

Update : Terminal is saying that it`s the latest version, i`m out of ideas .

Do you have any non-standard repositories in use? What do you have in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/

@Snowhog: It is not a proper Ubuntu system.

@kdeuser: Can you display the sources list of the ppa's that it connects to?

kdeuser, did you check for the presence of polkit-kde-1 ?

                          Hi NickStone,

The only thing showing any sources because there are no ppa`s installed is printed below :

                          Code:
                          ## N.B. software from this repository is ENTIRELY UNSUPPORTED by the Ubuntu
                          ## team. Also, please note that software in universe WILL NOT receive any
                          ## review or updates from the Ubuntu security team.
                          # deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty universe
                          # deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates universe
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty main universe restricted multiverse
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-security universe restricted multiverse main
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty-updates universe restricted multiverse main
                          The above comes from `sources.list.save`

Hi anika200, just typed ` polkit-kde-1` in Synaptic and yes it`s there but not installed.

Should this be installed , is this the missing piece in the jigsaw ?

Update : Went ahead and installed the app , went through ok.

                            I`ll try running kubuntu-desktop

Update : No luck - again....
