Really dumb question...

I installed Ubuntu first. I have since installed the kubuntu stuff. So, when the system start I see the "Kubuntu" logo. When I logoff, I see the Kubuntu logo.

BUT, the desktop is still Gnome. What do I do to get the KDE desktop?

From the graphical login screen (gdm or kdm) you can choose which desktop you'll log into (check the menus available from the screen)
