    Splash Screen

I note that I can install themes and replace the default splash screen.

If I have an image on my disk that I would like to use, can this be utilised. It does not look like it, but maybe.

    Best wishes.

Are you talking about the fade-into-desktop splash?

You can go to /usr/share/kde4/apps/ksplash and manually replace the background images for the splash you have configured. That might work. Any updates to the splash would wipe out your changes.

It is identified as the Splash Screen in 'System Settings'.

Thank you for the route. I have checked this path , the image I was referring to is called Preview.png (n Default). It is owned by root. Presumably I would need to use root access to make Preview.png - Preview.png.orig, and then introduce my own Preview.png

      Best wishes.

No, Preview is just what it says - a preview. It's only the image you see when you open System Settings, not what's displayed on your screen. You have to go into the folder of the splash screen you're using and change the images there, or learn how to make your own splash screens and install it.

            Thank you for responding.

The tutorial is a simple step by step guide.

Your download pack is quite large. I assume that to view the icons it must be downloaded. I don't think there is an html or other page summarising the content.

            Best wishes.

I have uploaded 4 icon back splashes for you .

save them some where on the pc . ****************BEWARE********************* when you choose a icon black splash with Kspalsherx it deletes it and then the only copy is in the splash screen tar.gz so if you are going to use one copy it to a temp directory before making the screen so you always have your original

All the best on your splashy adventure
