Disappointed - Can’t even load CD

Afternoon,

I have d/l the PC i386 image as a direct download and as a torrent. I have written to CD using different disks, different writing software and varying speeds but all to no avail.

All the CDs are readable under Windows but when I try to boot from the CD into Kubuntu it freezes at the 'installing drivers' screen (literally a couple of seconds in) and that's where it stays.

I really wanted to try this distro but  I am more than a little disappointed with it so far as it's supposed to be relatively easy to use for newbies!

Try booting the live cd in 'safe graphics mode', and try verifying the cd (there's an option in the boot menu I think).

Other than that, try downloading from a different mirror, and when you burn the ISO, burn it at 4X or so....less likely to get any write errors.

Sorry you had errors so early in, there's SO many fun errors you have yet to encounter [/joke]
