Migrate/import emails, contacts, etc from old machine

Hello, I was using PCLOS kde4 and I'm trying to import all my contacts and emails and such.

In the past I was able to do this by copying the .kde folder from the old machine to the new one. It's not working this time. kmail and kontact come up blank like I'm a new user. The only thing that seemed to copy over was akgregator settings so feeds are coming in. Nothing else.

I am old and behind the times. There has to be a guide to importing kde stuff from other machines out there. Link me the right procedure?

    -------what i tried so far--------------

    1. I got kubuntu to run after bashing with it's nvidia thing

    2. i did sudo cp -r /backup/home/me/.kde* /home/me-on-new-machine/.kde

    3. i chowned the new /kde to me

    4. that didn't work so i tried the same with .local

    5. that didn't work either.

    6. i said duh, better get help.

What was your old version of KDE, what version are you moving to? I guess you are talking about kmail and Kontact? I am no expert but recent versions of kde have changed the database fields that hold the contact and email info so copying them over probably will not work.
Did you try the the export functions from the apps themselves, kmail has an export and on the my version of kde kmail has an import wizard.
