    check before the big change...

    Hi all,

Ive been using kubuntu 14.04 on my old laptop for a couple of months now and have had no real issues with it. In fact i really like it. So much so that I'm now considering replacing windows 8 on my regular pc with the aforementioned but before i do is there any way i can check that it will work on my regular system other than just installing it and hoping for the best?

    Many thanks, Matt

If it works (and I mean test lots of things, like printing, LAN file sharing, your library's e-reader, sound from a variety of programs, certain kinds of mouse scrolling, any websites you have only accessed via IE, etc.) with a Live USB, you should be good.
Even If it doesn't work, then you still may be good, but then it might be safer to dual-boot.

If you can go into the BIOS / UEFI (and disable secure boot, fast boot, whatever), it is likely to be more successful.
