Windows can't connect to shared printer

I have a printer shared with Samba, but a windows machine can't connect to it.
    The shared disks work fine.
    What's wrong?

    Code:
    root@JAAKUBUNTU:/etc/samba# smbtree
    Enter root's password:

I can't help, but I'm going to watch to see if you find a solution; I gave up many months ago trying to get the couple Windows systems still in my house to connect to my printers (which are attached to my Kubuntu 14.04.1 system, but the same problem applied to MEPIS 11). I can't get even antiX Linux machines to print anything but test pages to the printers, though they detect their presence and claim to have installed them.

IMO, Samba fails the test of usability; I've got lots of years configuring stuff (since DOS 3.31) , and Samba sharing has me beat. As you note, the Windows systems can find my shared hard disk folder without problems...

Samba does not fail the test of usability!

working fine for me, windows and mac clients,

configs you posted look ok to me, you need to configure cups server manually, its been a while since i did mine and cant remember of the top of my head sorry.

I haven't had any problems like this in the past, but I've been having printer problems since (I think) libcupsys changed to libcups2.
Since then my printer has frozen (with even local printing) with Debian, Mint, CentOS, OpenSuse and Mageia.

The weird thing is that the disk shares work fine. Only the printer can not be connected to (with Windows Vista).

I don't use Samba to share printers from Linux to Windows. I use IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) to share printers from Linux.

            To do this in Kubuntu
Go to System Settings --> Printer Configuration --> Server Settings and check both Share published printer connected to this system and Allow printing from the Internet.

Now map your printer from windows.
Click Add Network, Wireless, or Bluetooth printer.
Click to stop the search. Then click "The printer that I want wasn't listed".
Click the radial button for "Select a shared printer by name".
Enter this for the shared printer name where HOST is your server name or IP and Printer_Name is the name of you shared printer.
            Code:
            http://HOST:631/printers/Printer_Name
Click next and continue with the remaining prompts.

I have my router reserve my print server IP.

I did, and the printer jammed on the last page.
But when I printed locally (from Kate) it printed fine.

Was it jammed or did it just stop printing in the middle of the page? Send a blank page from LibreOffice Writer or another app the next time this happens. Does it push out the previous page and then print the blank page?

It jammed. It didn't even respond to the power button. I had to disconnect/reconnect the power chord to reset it.
