Need advise blocking Opera 25 beta's anti-phishing pings

Opera 25 for linux has an anti-phishing scheme that sends your url request off to Norway and then off to the intended site and then back to your browser. I would like to stop this behavior, can someone suggest a work around. I currently do not use a firewall but if one is needed to acomplish this task that would be fine too.

The site it is sent to is sitecheck2.opera.com and the ip is 91.203.99.36.

    I am running Kubuntu 14.04

I also have access to a local dnsmasq server ( used for caching ) which may be a use but sometimes I do not have it turned on.

I realize that this is a good security feature but I just want the option to not use it.

The firewall is basically built-in. I would suggest installing ufw-kde it's an easy GUI front-end that integrates into the KDE. Once installed, you'll find in Network and Connectivity section of System Settings.

Thanks dtr, I probably would not have found that on my own.

might not be what you want to hear, but do you have to use Opera?
