Adding Folders to Folder View

On one of my desktops, I have Folder View .

To extend the view I have copied the Wastebin folder to this view.

I would also like to add the Root folder.

Can someone tell me how to include this icon (copy) in the desktop view?

I will assume you want a folder named root that will open / and show you

open dolphin and right click a blank space>go to "create new">click "link to location (URL)>under "File name:"type "root" or link to root or whatever you want,,,,,then under "Enter link to location (URL):" type /

click OK ,,,,,,,now a folder called root will be in your folder view (& /home/you) that will open /

I have tried this and it works.

What I end up with after using a folder view widget is root and a link to root.

Before, I had home - somehow

After deleting the link, I have root, not home.

This will suffice, but I don't understand how I originally had home.

My plan was to have home and root as a folder, probably red, within the widget on the desktop

Somewhere along the line, I seem to have pressed copy, because root started to copy into home. However, I have deleted this folder.

I have an empty file in root, entitled file:///. I have not noticed this before, I think it must have been created by my accidental copy. I assume that I can delete it - it is empty.

Something is wrong.

From my desktop and using folder view, if I click on Home - me- docs - sub folders, they are empty.

If I click on root - Home - me - docs - sub folders, All contents are present.

How can I correct the former - the views should be identical

Some of my root folders are empty.

I think that I may have created some confusion between root and home.

yes you did something wrong,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,first remove your folder view widget or chang that desktop setting back to default desktop ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,next open dolphin , do you still have your files ?

I have removed the folder view widget.

My files are present.

There seems to be a lot of folders in Home that should be in Root

Is it safe to delete empty folders in Home that look like they belong in root

Once I realised copying was occurring, I stopped the process - I thought that I was copying a link, not folders.

I have a root folder in wastebin, but it seems empty.

you should be ok as you should not have been abel to change anything in /root (copy yes,,chang no)unless you were using a root dolphin ,,,,,,,you were not were you?

Are you saying I can delete folders in home?

Just to be clear, which ones. Should I move them to a tmp folder first, just to be safe?

yes it looks like you started copying / to home ,,,,,,boy that would use up some space

mite be easier for you to just remove the directory’s that are obviously roots .........like
