    Battery saving tips

Hello, I have Kubuntu 14.04 on my laptop. I already installed laptop mode tools and reduced the brightness(when on battery of course). Any other ideas how to preserve more energy more energy? I mean something that will offer a measurable change.
    Thank you!

I recently discovered a couple things that have helped me eek a little more time out of my battery.

First, switch the CPU power scaling driver to intel_pstate and install the thermald daemon:

Next, install TLP, a power management utility that largely automates much of manual tweaks that have emerged over the years:

i was under the impression that TLP conflicts with laptop-mode-tools?

also, laptop-mode-tools has a few configuration files somewhere in etc, i dont remember exactly sorry, but there is a lot of tweaking can be done there.
for example, you can turn of dvd/cd drive on battery, etc
i read somewhere that bluetooth takes up a lot of power, almost as much as wifi

Yep, it does -- that's why the TLP instructions indicate to remove laptop-mode-tools first.

TLP merges all this tweaking into one well-documented place: /etc/default/tlp.
