How exactly work dual boot process on EFI bios?

Hi all, This is my first post and im dont see any site for presentation soo hello to the community!!!

My computer are Asus M5A97 EVO 2.0 motherboard with AMD cpu, 8GB ram, nvidia Graphic card. The HDD are SDD samsung 250Gb. Im got Windows 8.1 installed and want to install Kubuntu. when im install windows 8.1 im made free partition for linux my partition scheme:

300 MB - windows do it, repair partition
99 Mb - windows do it, EFI partition
    155 Gb - c:\ windows do it, S.O. installed
20 Gb - d:\ im do it, the idea is have the thunderbird and firefox setting in this partition and use in windows/linux
75 Gb - im do it but no format yet, for kubuntu install

The easy step for install kubuntu is start kubuntu (14.04.1),choose manual partition, create a swap partition (2 gb), a root partition (20 Gb) and the rest for /home partition. With this Kubuntu install fine and im got dualboot but im have few question:

    - when im use bios boot menu, start Kubuntu live in bios mode or UEFI mode, im thing if im start in UEFI mode he recognizes the windows UEFI partition and automatic mount /boot but if im use bios setup there install in bios mode, is this true?
    - Where im install grub bootloader? on sda (mbr used by GTP, EFI and GRUB) or is better to install on the EFI Partition or /root?

    Thx. soo much in advance.

Thx. you soo much for the link, im trying to search on the forum but no engough. Google also give me the answer for the second question:
      Install to disk
      Note:
The method is specific to installing GRUB to a partitioned (MBR or GPT) disk, with GRUB files installed to /boot/grub and its first stage code installed to the 440-byte MBR boot code region (not to be confused with MBR partition table).
im find it on the arch linux wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GRUB

To late for me now, tomorow im continue to read.

Thx. again and of off course, thx. to @SteveRiley Im wait for the diferent installation way with refind tutorial
