    Cannot Enable Wifi card+Dvd incompatibility(??)

    1° Prblm)
    Aint' activate my pci wireless card,
    I tryed to install various utilityes like Knetwork manager but wen I try to create a new lan the program saves the various information about it but still not activate the card...

    model is: U.S.Robotics wireless MaXg Pci Adpter type:USR805417

    note: I would to create a ad-hoc network so I can share the internet connection between my laptop (a stupid ACER travelmate with an intel pro set wireless card).

    Whenever I have some difficult to install kubuntu on it because the dvd drive has some well-know compatibility problem and anytime abort the installation in the perfect middle of it...
    I'm a bit desperate...if someone would be so sweet to help me with some exlication of the causes of une of both problems I have...would be fantastic

    For problem number 2: Is your firmware up-to-date?

      As for the wifi card. It looks like (After a quick search around) that the card uses Broadcom 4318 chip set. If I am right then you need to use ndiswrapper. The way I did it (On my Acer laptop which uses the Broadcom 4318 card), has been listed here.
