It is much more important that Kontact have a fully functional calendar than to have a pretty one, but pretty is one of those "things" that many people want.
This just occurred to me a few days ago because, yet again, I was going to be the only faculty member with a "non-pretty" calendar hung up in the prep rooms that had my name written in with marker.
This is probably old news, but it occurred to me that maybe Kontact Calendar would "print to file".
It does not, but it does print a "print to file" PDF.
The PDF can then be opened in GIMP and manipulated.
What I did was make a "banner image" that would fit in the part of the upper portion where the date of the printout is.
I put a nice image of me diving on one side, a beaker on the right and put "Woodsmoke's schedule summer '14" in the middle.
I than added a layer and placed the banner so that it fit over the date box.
There are no day names in the day name boxes, so I added in S, M, ....Sat.
Merged down and printed.
Not elegant but it gets the job done.
And KUDOS to the Kontact devs for making, first and foremost, a functioning calendar!
