My processor is an 8core 4mhz AMD
My memory is 1800 16gb
System is dual-boot, however each OS is installed on it's own dedicated SSD
My information storage drives are 6gbs SATA HDD's
Since the upgrade to Kubuntu 14.04, my computer runs like an old 25mhz processor with 8mb ram. In recent operating systems and with 4gb plus of ram, I have experienced almost instant reaction to a mouse-click, my powerhouse computer with the most current OS runs like a 25 year old computer with each mouse click. When I click on Kmenu, I wait for the package to respond, many times several seconds. It happens each time I attempt to open an application. Once open, most applications have rapid response time, however, in certain applications links are delayed.
My inner clock is unable to adjust. Each time I click to open an application, I end up clicking several times thinking I have not actually clicked an instruction.
Because I locate my panel at the top of my screen, with the Kmenu located on the upper right of the screen, normal reaction clicking on the Kmenu is a drop-down menu of application options. That delay for the drop-down to appear or the delay of the link to another application after clicking on that application to appear is driving me nuts.
My first thought is that I must have opened the Windows OS, where delay is more common.
Prior to the upgrade, these delays did not happen, so my personal thought is that the new OS is responsible. Is this the case with other users? Have I missed something in "System Settings" that would cause this? Is this a Nepomuk problem? Do I have to purge 14.04 to return to 13.10? Is something happening, like intrusion of a virus, which I neverbefore have experienced?
I have tried the alternate OS, Windows 7, and there are still many things I don't like about that system, but delay to open applications is not incuded among them. I can only deduce that it is a Linux exclusive problem and a part of Kubuntu 14.04.
If this is something I should already be aware, please forgive my waste of your time, but please help if you have an answer.
Thanks!
