    Troubles shutting down Kubuntu

    Hi all,
    I'm new here.

I switched my notebok system from Xubuntu to Kubuntu and I removed all Xubuntu and GNOME package. Kubuntu works very well on my notebook, I like it a lot, but I have some troubles when I have to shutdown the system.
When I shutdown, the screen become black with some white writtens, and it remains blocked, and by some about 10 minutes it writes some 3 or 4 rows and so on. But it never shutdown.
I also noticed, that if I press IO button, it says: 'Caught signal 15,...shutdown...' and then at last it shuts down.

    How to solve it?

    Thank you so much!!

I'm no expert on the subject but you could try to shut down with the following command:
    Code:
    sudo shutdown -h now
(If using -r in place of -h you should get a reboot)

When a Linux computer becomes unresponsive you can usually shut it down with the 'Magic Keys':

The problem mentioned in the above thread was apparently not solved but there are some other good tips.

The issue is an older one, but maybe you are afflicted by it.
