Trying to install ffmpeg for a screen recorder.

I tried installing ffmpeg but I keep coming up with errors. I would really like a screen recorder. Any suggestions on what to do? I'm very new to Kubuntu. Actually, very new to Linux in general. Please Help!!

    Thank you!

What are the exact errors you are getting?
What screen recorder are you trying out?

I know the installation is slightly more advanced, but SimpleScreenRecorder has been quite nice to use.

ffmpeg is no longer in the Trusty repositories. so it and applications which are front end gui's to it no longer work. There are other choices:
      In the repository:
      RecordItNow
      VokoScreen

      from another repository:
      SimpleScreenRecorder (via claydoh's suggestion)
      (deb:http://ppa.launchpad.net/maarten-bae...ecorder/ubuntu trusty main)
After you add that line to /etc/sources/sources.list you can do "sudo apt-get update" followed by "sudo apt-get install simplescreenrecorder" and then uncheck that repository in Muon.
