Sleep screen appears even when all power management turned OFF

Even after turning off all Power Management functions for both battery and AC Power, my laptop running Kubuntu 13.10 turns the screen to the default background after about 10-15 minutes.

I can't figure out where this setting is coming from, but it is not Power Management.

Another problem with this screen "saving" function is that sometimes it simply crashes -- and there is no way to return to the login page (I have it set to log in after sleep).

Any ideas on how to fix?

Go to System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Session Management > On Login and check Start with an empty session
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I already have that checked.

I upgraded to 14.04, and the problem was resolved.
