    Google chrome, VLC ...

... like apps are not getting being installed in my Kubuntu 32 bit 14.04. The Qapt package installer always shows error like dependencies not satified. Also the Muon Discover is not at all showing new apps like chrome, VLC ...Donno why. Maybe its not detecting internet but I sway that my internet connection is good(the only reason I am writting this). Lastly the startup disk creator is not working and crashing frequently. Someone please help.

Welcome to Kubuntu Forums . Net

Muon Discover is designed to be 'light weight' -- it lacks the oomph of it's big brother Muon Package Manager (which isn't installed (now) by default).

    Open a console and type:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install -f
    sudo apt-get install muon
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Chrome will not show as it is not available from the standard ubuntu repos. You have to get that from google, unless you are looking for chromium , the open-source build of Google Chrome.

I am seeing vlc in Discover right on the main page there, it is one of the more popular packages in Ubuntu, it seems Chromium is there as well, under "best rated"

Are you downloading individual deb files from somewhere?

Exactly, even I am seeing the Vlc in Discover. But when I click on it, it take me noweher. Also I m unable to search any other new apps (maybe because its not taking me to internet even though internet is fully connected). That is exactly my problem. Not being able to search and download apps. Because of this i m downloading the .deb files individually but then it shows the same error as i have said above?

the update command is stuck at 68% with message connecting to in.archive.ubuntu.com.
I guess the ubuntu is not being able to use internet. So any way in terms of setting to make kubuntu use internet.
          Thanks.

This depends on your network connection. But for startes, have a look at the Network management panel.
Do you have WLAN or (cable) LAN?

Also what does ifconfig return? (You must type that command in a terminal)

This looks like it tries to resolve IPv6 type network addresses. Can you browse the web? Like visit www.google.com?

It looks like you get an IPv4, but not an IPv6. Tell aptitude to only use IP4.
                          Have a look at http://unix.stackexchange.com/questi...se-ipv6-method
and use either one of the first two answers. This should help.
