Installing Sun Java

Hola, I'm wanting to install Sun Java and I'm finding difficulty finding good, simple instructions for doing so. I need it for school because the open source version (whose name slips my mind) isn't quite cutting it. If anyone could direct my to some good, clear instructions on how to do this, you would be my best friend for a day.
