    Flash plugin orphaned update

I recently had the update manager crash on me. Since then I have had problems viewing videos on youtube. I tried installing the flash plugin manually, but to no avail. I then found a package in the Muon Package Manager called adobe-flashplugin and installed. That fixed the problem, but only to some extent. Sometimes it works fine, others it just does not and says that I don't have the plugin installed. And then it somehow did get uninstalled, so I had to install it again. I think the orphaned update (I found that term online somewhere) might be conflicting with it. Hence my question is this; how do I find it and (if possible) remove it?

    Thanks in advance!

Please tell a bit more: https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showth...W-GUY-lt-lt-lt

What version of the Kubuntu ?
    KDE ?
    Browser ?

    Orphaned packages explained: http://askubuntu.com/questions/28694...haned-packages

The Muon package manager has the 'History viewer' - you could use it to look what happened.

Muon package manager > View > History

    At here the flashplugin-installer was replaced by the adobe-flashplugin & adobe-flash-properties-kde, 16.11.2013, 12:33.

Oh, I'm sorry! I missed that thread completely. Thanks for the heads up!

      Distribution version: 12.04 (64bit)
      KDE version: 4.8.5
Browser: Firefox (25.0.1) and Chromium (version: 30.0.1599.114 ). I tend to get more videos working in FF, but I can only access nba.com (which is one of my most used sites) fully in Chromium.

What does the Adobe 'test' page tell ?: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

        Flash disabled:

        Flash enanbled:

If you type 'about : plugins' - does it show the correct plug-in information ?

There are several threads of the flash problems:

            - http://askubuntu.com/questions/89932...ing-in-firefox
            - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2131197

I would try the re-installation first:

            Code:
            sudo apt-get install --reinstall adobe-flashplugin

            man apt-get

            NAME
            apt-get - APT package handling utility -- command-line interface
            ...
            install
install is followed by one or more packages desired for installation or upgrading.

            --reinstall
Re-install packages that are already installed and at the newest version.
