Hi everyone.
I do believe this is my first thread here!
I've been using Kubuntu for a couple of years now, but I feel like a n00b and I suspect this is gonna be a n00b question, so here we go...
I've been experiencing problems with Kubuntu ever since the latest release.
On startup I get several messages saying "System Program Problem Deteced". Of the two options provided, I click Report on all of them until they stop appearing. It is often 5 or 6 dialogue boxes that appear.
After that, a couple or three more appear, which are Ubuntu in flavour. They get the same treatment, too.
I've tried to fix this in what is the usual way for me: run several System updates. Kubuntu has been so reliable at healing itself, I've grown quickly into this admittedly lazy habit
However, System Update itself has now stopped working.
I have run Muon updater, the System Update which appears in what I think of as the Systray (Apper updater?) and the terminal code 'sudo apt-get update'.
The errors returning indicate the apps are unable to connect to the server or to receive the repository.
eg. System Updates is saying "Could not download packages"
Terminal is giving dozens of lines such as "W: Failed to fetch http ://gb. archive. ubuntu. com/ubuntu/dists/natty-backports/multiverse/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 91. 189. 92. 202 80]" (link disabled by me due to forum limitations) and then finishes with "E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead."
Think I might have done something wrong involving ppa backports, but my knowledge lets me down at this point, due to my n00bery.
I am working on a Dell Latitude D520.
Any and all help most gratefully received!
Thank you.
