    Screen freezing

My screen keeps freezing everyday when I'm right in the middle of something. Yesterday when it happened I was so frustratrated I just got up and walked away. Then when I sat down this morning it wasn't locked anymore and my applications worked. Please help. I can deal with just about anything but this.
    Thanks

I have a similar problem related to the Nouveau driver and my Intel HD4000 video chip. The freeze involves the panel, mainly. On rare occasions app on the screen freeze too, and one one occasion in the last two or so months since this problem popped up I had a total lockup -- apps, screen, keyboard. A power cycle was the only way.

BUT, 99.99% of the freezes the keyboard and mouse still work. I use Ctrl+Esc to pop open the System monitor, and on the processes I locate the "plasma-desktop" process. I right click on it and select "Send Signal" --> Interrupt (INT) and right click on it. That immediately unlocks what ever is locked. Apparently some process is waiting on the Nouveau driver or the driver is waiting on some process, and the INT signal supplies what it is looking for?
