    Hibernate Kubuntu 13.10

    Is there a way to set up hibernate in Kubuntu 13.10 ? I know to type sudo pm-hibernate in the termincal but would prefer a button to select which would put my machine into hibernate mode. I tried Linux Mint 15 KDE and it has hibernate as one of the power options out of the box, wish Kubuntu would do likewise. Actually seems a little odd given that Mint is Ubuntu based. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

    Look in System Settings > Power Management.
    Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007

        There is a suspend to disk and a suspend to ram, the last one is normally enabled, on some hardware the first one needs some extra attention.
        In case of a Thinkpad check the bottom of the first post:

        In case this doesn't work, please supply info about your hardware.

          Just to add to the helpful post of Teunis, follow the section on hibernate as it's not enabled out of the box (to protect us from ourselves). Once you have enabled it you will see it as an option when you click on the battery icon on the system tray. You will also find it as an option in the power-management settings.

            It was on my install.

              Did you do an over-the air upgrade or a new install?

                Ahh I stand corrected it was an upgrade from 13.04 not a fresh install. However 13.04 was enabled out of the box.

                  @rusty62 all you need is this part of the referred to post
                  Code:
                  You need to make or edit (as root) the file [B]/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local-d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla[/B]

                  And add the text:

                       [Re-enable hibernate by default]
                  Identity=unix-user:*
                  Action=org.freedesktop.upower.hibernate
                  ResultActive=yes
                  Rebooting will bring hibernation to the menu.
