    WNA3100.... or not

    I've been putzing around with this stupid adapter for 3 days now. Trying everything I've come across on all the different threads on all the different boards. I did, in fact get this silly thing to connect once, but other than that once, the best it does is see the router and hang on logging in. My dell inspirion logs in to the wireless router just fine. Both machines running Kubuntu 13.04 installed from the same CD.

    So... I've been using the laptop, and I really like Kubuntu. Things are really looking up for the Linux world. And I REALLY want to come back. But I've got to have the tower working also (Gateway FX6801). The question here is...What brand/model wireless adapter will work 'out of the box' with Kubuntu? I just want to run to Walmart/Best Buy/Staples whatever, and come home with an adapter that I can plug in and have work...

      Thanks for the input... Now off to spend some money... ugh, I'm Scottish, it's not that I'm cheap, but rather that I'm frugal...

      I did do some google searching searching... but I had posted the original post at the height of frustration...

        Ok, Finally got this working...

        Seems it only wants to work in the 32 bit kernel... ( something I finally read somewhere else in the ether... don't remember where, the chemo drugs make me pretty addled sometimes)
        So..

        Install 32 bit Kubuntu
        Install ndiswrapper
        Obtain 32 bit Broadcom_bcm43xx driver (from somewhere, again I don't remember... more addled brain activity... or is it early onset alzheimers..hmmm)
        Install ndisgtk
        extract the drivers to a local directory
        install using Windows Wireless Drivers from the System menu and...
        POOF... I've got a working wireless...

          Yeh, but it's working. Still don't get N speed though. In reality I don't seem to need the speed. Mostly just stream the TV shows I miss during the week and there aren't many of them. I was into WoW for a while... any way to get that working on a Linux system?
