    What is Fuse_hidden?

    Hi!

At the root directory of my ntfs formatted partition (/media/DATA/), I have a file named fuse_hidden_(hex number here).
It's ~ 5GB and it's invisible from Dolphin (even with the "show hidden files" option enabled).
I show it when I rebooted at Windows after a long time (so I don't know how long it is sitting there).

Does somebody knows any details about such files?
It's rather big to ignore it and just leaving it being there.
    Kubuntu 13.10 saucy 3.11.0-12-generic 64bit (el_GR.UTF-8, kde-plasma), Windows 7

It should be deleted automatically upon reboot. They sometimes get "stuck" if a server or client crashes during file sharing ativity. You see similar files if you use nfs, but they called "lock" files. I believe those files are like caches for the network protocal to allow files to remain open. I guess the fuse file system works like a bridge between linux and ntfs and thus works like a network protocal.

EDIT: Although 5GB sounds large. Videos on that partition by chance?

      Oh, I see!

My ext4 partition is small, so I'm saving there my KTorrent files.
Sometimes there are indeed some video files (eg. linux video tutorials from here and there).

I deleted it and I couldn't see any negative effects.
I also rebooted at Windows and I can't see any newer hidden fuse file.
Seems like it was indeed a cache file.

      MANY THANKS for your help!!!

PS. Is it possible to see these files while on Linux (with dolphin or konsole)?
      (without rebooting at windows).

Likely you couldn't see it because of ownership. Next time, open Dolphin as root (using kdesudo) and then see if the file is visable.

          THANKS!
I can't try it right now, because I delete it, but I'll try asap.
