Remove qwerty from XKBVARIANT= so it looks like:

Save/close the file. Log out of the Desktop and then log back in under your normal user. Any change to the keyboard functioning?<3 there is no hope <3

Open a console and type:
Code:sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
Windows no longer obstructs my view.

But the external keyboard does work? You have a LiveCD of Kubuntu? Assuming 'yes', boot using it. Don't reinstall, just run from the LiveCD. Does your laptop keyboard work as it should? If 'no', then we have to suspect a defective internal keyboard.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Well, honestly, that implies a hardware failure. How old/new is the laptop? Is it still warranted?Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Also bare in mind that 13.10 has not been officially released yet, still in beta.<3 there is no hope <3
