I'm using an app on my smartphone which sends audio data in the form of UDP messages. I'm trying to receive the data on my laptop, which has dual-boot Windows 7 and Kubuntu 13.04.
When using Windows, I can always see the UDP data being received using a tool like NetMon or Wireshark.
In Kubuntu, very occasionally I see the data in Wireshark, but usually it doesn't seem to work at all. When it does work, it only works for about 5 minutes after booting. After that point, I seem to stop receiving the data.
I'm totally mystified by this and not a bit frustrated. My understanding is that Kubuntu does not come with any firewall tools installed or enabled by default. Are there any diagnostic commands or tools that might help me to understand what is happening?
Thanks
David
