It didn't start with Obama. It started with / was expanded by the Republican administration of Bush (although every government since time began has done it in some way or the other, though)....

It is almost always Democratic administrations that open up documents under the Freedom of information Act and increase transparency (as happened under Clinton).

Shotgun politics usually offer a lot of scatter and little accuracy.

Right now the killer is being surrounded by a web of deduction, forensic science,
and the latest in technology such as two-way radios and e-mail.

Thanks for posting those references, Perspectoff. I have not been able to make sufficient time to create the write-up for Wanakutia.

        EncFS website: http://www.arg0.net/encfs

        EncFS article at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EncFS

        Using a package manager, install:
        sudo apt-get install encfs libpam-encfs

        A Gnome-based front-end named Cryptkeeper (http://tom.noflag.org.uk/cryptkeeper.html) is available:
        sudo apt-get install cryptkeeper

Can I suggest Truecrypt as an alternative?

It creates a file-container that acts as an external disk and you can store there your sensitive files-data.
It has an easy to use official installer and as an alternate option, you can install it from some ppa repositories.

Advantage: Portability. You can carry the truecrypt volume arround, give it to your friends with windows pc, use it if you reboot at windows and such.
Disadvantage: Many are considering it's license restrictive and not really open (something like freeware + source code).

Another advantage: it's far less risky to mistakenly lose files. The psychology of an encrypted container is easier to comprehend than an encrypted file system. I wish Ubiquity never presented that option during install. inexperienced people select it, not realizing that the care and feeding requires a certain skill.
