Shutdown Problems

Hi dear linux masters;

I've installed Kubuntu yesterday from ubuntu, and I like Kubuntu. It's useful and stylish. But I've 2 problems. One of these problems is my computer isn't shutdown. When I shut it down there is no problem until "kubuntu" logo showed up. After that I wait 10 minutes and it didn't shut down. Also when I restarted computer the same thing recur. I tried to use

sudo halt

command but the result is the same.
My computer is Dell Inspiron Duo 1090.
So I am waiting for your help and I am thankfull for your help.

Note: My English is not so good. I'm sorry for that, I hope I explain my problem clearly.
Note2: I said that I have 2 problems. I'll open new topic for other problem.

try using

sudo shutdown -P now

I did try that but it didn't help me. But the problem is solved. Yesterday I reformat my computer without ubuntu (directly kubuntu) and my 2 problems is solved.
