authorization_keys2 dis-appears after reboot

Good Day,

I've been adding an authorization_keys2 manullay to /root/.ssh/ as root user , But sometimes , this file will dis-appear when the box has been rebooted . This happens randomly in different boxes that we have. What may have cause this? we are using Kubuntu 11.04.
