    Auto-hide panels and their behavior

    Hello, first post.

This isn't really a problem, but it's just something I'd like to know. I chose Kubuntu because KDE gives a lot of customization options and I really like having a very nice looking & convenient desktop (I tend to spend ages getting it perfect). I'd just like to know if there's a way to stop auto-hiding panels from appearing if there is a window over them? I've noticed it getting in the way a little when I need to move my mouse to the top of the screen for something (like closing a maximized window) and it pops out.

    Thanks in advance!

If you have the 'hide' feature activated when the cursor hits the screen-edge, moving the cursor to the screen-edge will make the panel appear. Your only option to be able to communicate with the below page or window is to back off the cursor, wait for the panel to auto-hide, then move the cursor to the option you prefer. I had the same problem when getting used to that feature. Nevertheless, I still prefer using the auto-hide feature. In time, you become disciplined to not put the cursor all the way to the screen border when minimizing, reducing, or removing an active screen.

KDE Plasma Panels - more options

      A wish: Bug 158556 - Manual hiding of panel - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158556

A source code from the (old) KDE svn playground: http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/playgrou...s/togglepanel/
Plasma applet to toggle visibility of a panel
      Panel settings:
      - always visible
      - windows can cover / go below

      Click the hide/unhide button.

      PPA search: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas?n...et-togglepanel
      Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?
      1. Thread: Please explain how to access old kubuntu forum posts
